Case Study

Citroen C4 Cactus Timing Belt Replacement

Our customer brought in their Citroen C4 Cactus for a timing belt replacement, which most vehicles with a timing belt or cambelt need every 5 to 10 years. They had also been advised that the rocker cover gasket and inlet manifold seals needed replacing, so our Citroen specialist technicians carried out all the work in one visit.

Fault Codes

No fault codes – this was a scheduled timing belt replacement, carried out along with a new rocker cover gasket and inlet manifold seals

Common Symptoms
  • Timing belt reaching its recommended replacement age
  • Engine running poorly on an overdue wet belt
  • Low oil pressure warnings
  • Oil leaks from the rocker cover gasket
Citroen C4 Cactus Inspection

Many newer engines, including those in Citroen models, now use a 'wet' timing belt that runs in engine oil. When one becomes overdue, it can start to break down, causing the engine to run poorly and leading to low oil pressure, so it's vital to replace it when advised. To reach the belt, we removed the rocker cover and inlet manifold, which also allowed us to inspect the areas where new gaskets and seals were due.
