When Should You Book a Brake Check?
If you notice any of the following, it's worth booking a brake check as soon as possible.
Steering wheel vibrates when braking
Squeaking or grinding when braking
Brake pad warning light has come on
Vehicle is pulling to one side when braking
Brake pedal feels too hard or spongy
Our Brake Repairs & Replacements
Depending on your vehicle and the repair needed, we fit genuine manufacturer parts or high-quality OEM-equivalent alternatives, and we're happy to talk through the options with you. Either way, every part is fitted to the correct specification for your vehicle, so your brakes perform exactly as they should.

Servicing
Brake Fluid Change
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which can reduce braking performance and lead to corrosion inside the system. We'd recommend having it changed roughly every two years, regardless of mileage.

Wear & Tear
Brake Pad & Disc Replacements
Pads and discs wear down with everyday use. Once they get too thin, stopping power is reduced and you may start to hear squeaking or grinding. Leaving it too long can damage other components, so we'll replace both to the correct specification for your vehicle.

Sticking or Seized
Brake Calliper Replacements
Callipers apply the pressure that brings your pads into contact with the discs. If one sticks or seizes, you may notice uneven wear, a pull to one side, or reduced braking performance, and it will need replacing.

Drum Brakes
Rear Brake Shoe Replacements
Many vehicles use brake shoes as part of a drum brake system on the rear axle. Worn shoes reduce stopping power and can also affect how well your handbrake holds.

Handbrakes
Handbrake & Electronic Parking Brake Repairs
If your handbrake isn't holding properly or your electronic parking brake is showing a fault, we'll find the cause and put it right. Many modern cars use an electronic parking brake, which needs diagnostic equipment to service safely, and our dealer-level scan tools let us do this properly.

Corrosion & Leaks
Brake Pipe Replacements
Brake pipes carry fluid to each wheel and can corrode over time, especially on older vehicles. Corroded or leaking pipes are a common MOT failure and can lead to a loss of braking, so we'll replace them and bleed the system to make sure your brakes work as they should.

Frequently Asked Questions
Brake Repair FAQs
How long do brake pads and discs last?
It depends on your car and how you drive. Brake pads often last somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 miles, and discs usually last a little longer. We'll check both and only replace what's needed.
Why are my brakes squeaking or grinding?
Squeaking can simply be brake dust, or a sign your pads are getting low. Grinding is more serious and usually means the pads are worn out. Either way, book a brake check as soon as you can.
Is it safe to drive with my brake warning light on?
If a red brake warning light stays on after you've released the handbrake, stop when it's safe and give us a call. An amber light usually means your pads are wearing low, so book in as soon as you can.
Will worn brakes fail my MOT?
Yes, they can. If your MOT is coming up and you're worried about your brakes, book a brake check beforehand so there are no surprises.
How much will my brake repair cost?
It depends on your car and which parts need replacing. We'll check your brakes and give you a price before any work starts.
How long will it take to replace my brakes?
Most brake jobs take between one and two hours. You're welcome to wait in our waiting area with free Wi-Fi and hot drinks, or we can collect your car and deliver it back to you.
Should brake pads and discs be replaced in pairs?
Yes. We always replace pads and discs in pairs on the same axle, so your car brakes evenly and doesn't pull to one side.
