EV & Hybrid Repairs
Electric and Hybrid Car Repairs, Done Properly
Whether you drive a fully electric car, a plug-in hybrid or a self-charging hybrid, our technicians at both our Worthing and Sompting garages are trained to work safely on high-voltage systems.
We use dealer-level diagnostic equipment for fault finding, then explain what needs doing before any work starts. From everyday repairs like brakes, tyres and suspension through to high-voltage components, we can look after your EV or hybrid under one roof.

When Should You Get Your EV or Hybrid Checked?
If you notice any of the following, it’s worth booking your electric or hybrid car in as soon as possible. Not sure what a light on your dashboard means? See our guide to dashboard warning lights.
EV system or hybrid warning light has come on
Reduced range or the battery isn’t charging properly
Car won’t go into ready mode or won’t drive
Knocking, whining or clunking noises when driving
Grinding or squeaking from the brakes
Our Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Repairs
Electric and hybrid cars need much of the same care as any other car, plus some work that calls for specialist training and equipment. Depending on your vehicle and the repair needed, we fit genuine manufacturer parts or high-quality OE-matching parts.

High-Voltage Systems
High-Voltage System Repairs
Our technicians are trained to safely isolate and work on high-voltage systems, so we can diagnose and repair faults with high-voltage components, cabling and connectors. We don’t strip down battery packs in house. If your battery needs internal component repairs, we’ll arrange this with a specialist and keep you updated throughout.

Charging Problems
EV Charging Fault Finding & Repairs
If your car won’t charge, charges slowly or keeps stopping, the fault could be with the charging port, onboard charger, wiring or software. We’ll find the cause and carry out the repair, including software updates where needed.

Brakes & Suspension
EV & Hybrid Brake and Suspension Repairs
Regenerative braking means the brakes on electric and hybrid cars are used less, so discs can rust and callipers can stick. These cars are also heavier, which puts extra wear on suspension and tyres. We repair and replace brakes, suspension and steering parts on all EVs and hybrids.

12V Battery & Electrics
12V Battery and Electrical Repairs
Electric and hybrid cars still have a 12V battery that powers the locks, lights and control systems. If it goes flat, the car may not start or go into ready mode. We test and replace 12V batteries and repair everyday electrical faults.

Frequently Asked Questions
Electric & Hybrid Repair FAQs
Can any garage repair an electric car?
Routine work like tyres, brakes and suspension can be done by many garages, but anything involving the high-voltage system needs technicians with the right training and equipment. Our technicians are trained to work safely on electric and hybrid vehicles.
Do you repair hybrid cars as well as electric cars?
Yes. We repair self-charging hybrids, plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars of all makes at both our Worthing and Sompting garages.
Why are my electric car’s brakes grinding or squeaking?
Electric and hybrid cars use regenerative braking, so the brake discs are used less and can rust. This can cause noise and, if left, can lead to an MOT failure. A brake check will show whether they need attention.
Can you repair my EV battery?
We can diagnose battery faults and carry out high-voltage repairs. We don’t strip down battery packs in house, so if your battery needs internal component repairs, we’ll arrange this with a specialist and keep you updated.
Will using an independent garage affect my warranty?
No. Under UK Block Exemption rules, you can have your car repaired by an independent garage without affecting your manufacturer warranty, as long as the work meets the manufacturer’s standards and suitable parts are used.
How much will my repair cost?
It depends on your vehicle and the fault. Once we’ve diagnosed the problem, we’ll explain what’s needed and give you a quote before any work goes ahead.
How long will my repair take?
Smaller jobs are often completed within the day. If parts need ordering or the repair is more involved, we’ll give you a timescale up front, and a hire car can keep you on the road in the meantime.
