Case Study
Audi RS6 Coolant Loss
Our customer presented us with an Audi RS6 coolant loss issue, alongside a noticeable whirring noise from the engine bay. Our Audi specialist technicians carried out a targeted diagnostic investigation to confirm the required repairs.

Fault Codes
There were no fault codes present at the time of investigation.
Common Symptoms
- Persistent coolant loss
- Whirring sound from under the bonnet
Audi RS6 Diagnostics
Initially, we carried out a full diagnostic assessment into the Audi RS6 coolant loss and a whirring noise. Fault code scans returned no stored errors, so further investigation was required. Through targeted noise tracing, visual inspection, and underbody access, we identified the alternator as the source of the abnormal noise. Therefore, we performed a coolant pressure test and confirmed an active coolant leak, with the alternator identified as the cause.

Audi RS6 Repairs
Repairs required front-end disassembly to access the coolant-cooled alternator on the Audi RS6. Our technicians replaced the faulty alternator along with the auxiliary belt and tensioner. The vehicle was then reassembled, the cooling system refilled, and a coolant pressure test carried out to confirm the Audi RS6 coolant loss was fully resolved and the abnormal noise eliminated.
- Fault traced to a defective coolant-cooled alternator
- Alternator, auxiliary belt, and tensioner replaced
- Cooling system pressure-tested with no further coolant loss detected
Resolution
Following repair, the Audi RS6 coolant loss issue was fully resolved and the vehicle returned to normal operation. Coolant levels remained stable, the abnormal noise was eliminated, and all final checks were completed with no further issues identified.
- Coolant system pressure-tested with no leaks detected
- Coolant level confirmed stable after testing
- Road test completed with no abnormal noises present
