Ford S Max Timing Belt Replacement
Our customer booked their Ford S-MAX in for a timing belt replacement, as it had reached its recommended interval. On this vehicle, the timing belt needs replacing every 10 years. As with every car that comes into our workshop, our Ford specialist technicians also carried out a free vehicle health check to spot any other potential problems early.

Vehicle Health Check
Alongside the timing belt replacement, we carried out our free vehicle health check (VHC), which we provide for all our customers to help keep on top of any potential problems. During the check, we found that the rear exhaust bracket needed welding. Left alone, a failed exhaust bracket can put extra strain on the exhaust system and lead to further damage or the need for replacement parts.

Timing Belt & Water Pump Replacement
We replaced the timing belt as scheduled. On this engine, the water pump is often replaced at the same time as the timing belt, so we fitted a new water pump and refilled the system with fresh coolant. After testing the S-MAX to confirm everything was working correctly, we welded the rear exhaust bracket to prevent any further damage.
Resolution
Once all the work was complete, we took the Ford S-MAX out for a road test. Everything was working as it should, confirming the timing belt, water pump and exhaust bracket repairs had been completed successfully and leaving our customer with peace of mind for years to come.
