Case Study

Range Rover Roof Switch Panel Replacement

Our customer's Range Rover was booked in for an MOT and repairs. As part of our service, we carry out a complimentary vehicle health check on every car that comes in, helping us spot anything that may need attention. During the check, we found the interior light was staying on, meaning the roof switch panel needed replacing. Left long term, this could drain the battery and leave the car unable to start.

Fault Codes

Common Symptoms
  • Interior light staying on
  • Roof switch not turning the light off
  • Risk of a flat battery
  • Empty coolant bottle and a leaking radiator
Range Rover Vehicle Health Check

Our vehicle health check always includes a visual inspection, and on this Range Rover we noticed the interior light stayed on and wouldn't switch off using the roof switch. We suspected the touch pad in the switch panel had failed. Because the light was staying on, we knew the unit already had the power and ground supplies it needed, so there was no need for time-consuming wiring checks, and simply replacing the switch panel would solve the problem. The same health check also revealed the coolant bottle was empty, with the radiator appearing to be leaking.

Roof Switch Panel & Radiator Replacement

As we'd already identified both faults during the health check, the repairs were quick and straightforward once our customer booked the car in. We replaced the leaking radiator to stop the coolant loss, then fitted a new roof switch panel so the interior light could be switched off as normal.

Our customer's Range Rover left with a new radiator and no more coolant leaks, and a working roof switch panel that no longer left the interior light on and draining the battery. A great example of how our free vehicle health check can catch problems before they become bigger issues.
