What Does a Porsche MOT Check?
Once your Porsche is three years old, it needs an MOT every year by law, and driving without a valid certificate can affect your insurance. The DVSA test covers the same safety and emissions standards for every car, but on a high-performance Porsche, brakes, tyres and suspension deserve a specialist eye. Here are some of the key areas we inspect.
Brakes & ceramic discs
Lights & warning lamps
Emissions & exhaust
Performance tyres & wheels
Suspension & steering

Frequently Asked Questions
Porsche MOT FAQs
Do I need to take my Porsche to a Porsche Centre for its MOT?
No. Any approved MOT centre can test your Porsche without affecting its warranty. Choosing a Porsche specialist means any repairs are handled properly.
How much does a Porsche MOT cost?
We charge £54.85, the maximum fee set by the DVSA. It gives us the time to test your Porsche properly rather than rushing it.
When is my Porsche's MOT due, and how early can I book?
Your Porsche's first MOT is due three years after it was first registered, then every year. You can book it up to a month (minus a day) early and keep the same renewal date, and we'll send you a reminder.
How long does a Porsche MOT take?
Around 45 minutes. You're welcome to wait with free Wi-Fi and a tea or coffee, or we can collect your Porsche and deliver it back afterwards.
Will my Porsche fail its MOT because of a loud sports exhaust?
A factory-fitted Porsche sports exhaust shouldn't cause a problem. Aftermarket exhausts that are much louder than standard can fail.
Are performance tyres checked differently on a Porsche MOT?
No, the checks are the same as any other tyre. Performance tyres can wear faster though, so we'll let you know if any are getting close to the limit.
Does a Porsche Taycan need an MOT?
Yes. The Taycan needs an MOT from three years old, just like any other car.
What happens if my Porsche fails its MOT?
We'll go through the results with you in plain English and give you a price before any work goes ahead. If your Porsche stays with us for the repairs, the partial retest is free within 10 working days.
Where is your Porsche MOT centre?
Our German Car Specialists are on Rectory Farm Road in Sompting, a short drive from Worthing, Shoreham and Lancing. There's on-site parking, and we can collect and deliver your Porsche if that's easier.
